Texas Tollroad - Loop 49

How to Pay

How to Pay

There are two ways to pay tolls on Loop 49.

Paying tolls on Loop 49 is easy. You may pay with an electronic toll tag or receive a monthly bill generated by our Pay By Mail system. Either way, there's no stopping or slowing down to pay, no waiting in lines and no searching for change.

Electronic Toll Tags

The following toll tags are accepted on Loop 49: TxTag, TollTag (North Texas Tollway Authority) or EZ TAG (Harris County Toll Road Authority). When you drive on the toll road, an overhead device sends a signal to the electronic chip inside the tag, and tolls are deducted automatically from your prepaid toll account. In addition to Tyler, TxTag can be used to pay tolls in Dallas, Houston, Austin and Laredo.

It's important that your license plate and credit card information are kept up to date on your toll account to ensure that you are charged correctly.

Monthly Invoice

No toll tag? No problem. Drivers without a tag are also welcome to use Loop 49. There's no need to prepay or register. Cameras above the toll lanes will photograph the license plate, and the registered vehicle owner will be mailed a monthly bill for toll charges at the address listed with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

The toll rates are one-third more for drivers who do not have an electronic toll tag to offset the costs related to processing the license plate information. Also, a $1 administrative fee is applied to each monthly bill for non-tag customers.
